Summer is officially here! The days are longer and warmer and the leaves are full. If you listen carefully you can even the bees buzzing as they flit from flower to flower.
It is the perfect season to take advantage of and really make some memories to keep you warm on a cold winter’s night.
Here are a list of seven things you can do to fully appreciate and enjoy this summer season while still embracing that slow summer feeling.
1.Pick wildflowers. Bringing flowers indoors can instantly uplift any space! Take some time this summer to wander through the woods, a field or even just a park and see what different kinds of wildflowers you can find along the way. The bouquets you can create can outshine even those found at a the most upscale boutique.

2. Grow something. Whether you have the room for a large vegetable garden or only room for a small planter with a tomato plant in it, gardening can be so beneficial (not to mention fun!) to grow something yourself. Watching nature take it’s time developing from a tiny plant into a delicious treat we can nourish our bodies with reminds us the best things aren’t rushed.
3. Hang laundry on the line to dry. The sound of sheets flapping in the breeze and the smell of summer air lingering on the clothes as you gather them after drying outside cannot be replicated in even the most expensive laundry products, and as an added bonus you’ll save money on your power bill!
4. Head to the water. The fresh air blowing through your hair and the smell of the water can sooth and renew your spirit. Pack a picnic, a good book and allow the surroundings to work their magic.

5.Re-Imagine outdoor cooking. A meal grilled on the barbecue is a delight to the taste buds, however it can be just as fun (and delicious) to cook something to eat over an open fire, even if it is something as small and simple as a s’more!
6.Eat seasonal fruit. There is nothing quite like a freshly picked piece of fruit. This year head to a local farmer’s market or a u-pick and get some of your favourite fruit. Blueberries made into a delicious flaky pie or peaches turned into a scrumptious cobbler will allow your taste buds to really experience summer!
7. Make lemonade. Nothing quite says summer like refreshing lemonade on a hot day. Dressing up lemonade with seasonal fruit really adds a fresh element. Strawberry lemonade is our favourite! The easy recipe we love to use is:

The juice of 3 large lemons
2/3 of a cup strawberry syrup (approximately 6 cups cut up strawberries, sprinkled with sugar and refrigerated overnight, the strawberry syrup will form in the bottom of the bowl)
1-1 1/2 cups sugar (dissolve the sugar into 2 cups boiling water)
6-8 cups water depending on preference
Combine all ingredients and enjoy!
Summer is meant to be enjoyed. These are only a few ways to help you capture the season while enjoying a slow, relaxed summer season.
